FIVE TIMES IN ONE NIGHT
By Chiara Atik
The Julie Harris Stage | June 27 – July 20, 2018 | Previews June 27 and 28
Over the centuries, few things have wielded such power over mankind as the promise of a great romp between the sheets. FIVE TIMES IN ONE NIGHT wittily depicts five couples discovering truths about themselves while navigating the rocky terrain of romance. From Adam and Eve to the only humans left on a post-apocalyptic planet (with stops in the 12th century and the modern day) FIVE TIMES IN ONE NIGHT explores joy, excitement, danger, and disappointment in a funny and revealing quintet of short plays.

“…the play is a coup for WHAT. It should not be missed by any adult of any sexual persuasion…” Provincetown Banner review
“While Chiara Atik’s play Five Times in One Night is a comedy about sex, the term “sex comedy” doesn’t come close to defining it. This isn’t trashy, exploitative, or unsophisticated: it’s thoughtful, funny, and ultimately extremely satisfying. In fact, Five Times in One Night is one of the smartest comedies I’ve ever seen: it’s cleverly and tightly written and nearly every line garners its own audience reaction.” Ptownie review
“Smart, fresh and funny, Chiara Atik is a vibrant emerging voice in contemporary theater.
In Five Times in One Night, her pitch-perfect writing playfully explores the delight, confusion, awkwardness, vulnerability and ravenous abandon of a very primal act: sex. Good sex, bad sex, sex for pleasure, sex for procreation, sex for adventure, sex to escape the mundane, sex to escape the inevitable, sex as an act of kindness. It’s all here.” Cape Cod Times review
